This is the end, my friend. We're not full time anymore. Our Five Year Summary is still a great compilation of our travels. It left off in 2022 with plans for travel in 2023. That included making reservations through summer 2023.
Many people bought RVs during the Pandemic. That means there are far more people out camping, particularly during the summer. Now, to travel during the summer, we'd need to make reservations months in advance. We tried this for summer 2023 as stated above. It did not work for us. If we ended up somewhere wonderful we couldn't stay over, likewise if the CG we picked sight unseen was terrible we'd have to stay through our reservations. Also, if we have problems, such as mechanical trouble with Sassy (Bigfoot trailer) or Larry (RAM tow vehicle), we'd be off schedule and without catch up reservations. Just not for us.
So, staying in Brenda during the winter (5 months) and summer in Prescott Valley (maybe 4-5 months) we'll be traveling some four months a year. Far less that "Full Time". Gotta call it like it is, that's not full time. Fini.
Hmmm. It's now May 2024 and we've had some time to think. First, there are many improvements around the house we've promised ourselves we'd do when "we spend more time in Prescott Valley". Now is that time. We've added a hot tub, wonderful for old achy bodies like ours. A new screen door 'cuz when the front door is open there's way more air circulation. A remodeled kitchen when we get all the pieces in place, likely next summer. And myriad other small projects. (As we get older and older projects take a lot longer to complete. It doesn't take many to fill up our time.)
What! I can not imagine you two not traveling. Not looking for the next adventure. Are you both broken? Here, hold me beer. If we mainly boondock, we could still travel without reservations. Our Bigfoot/RAM combination does not work well for boondocking. After considering pickup campers and camper vans we decided the camper van would work best for us. We just purchased a 2010 Pleasureway Excel TS. The plan is to install a 5" lift kit for better ground clearance. Two wheel drive will be fine off pavement, but likely not off road. It will get us into some fine boondocking spots. We're hoping to pull Brutus (our side by side) for some trips and get into new remote areas. OK gimme my beer back. And ya, we might be broken, thanks for asking.
That's our current direction. Stay tuned for further updates. I'll likely post when we travel but noone cares about our day to day lives, it's the adventure that draws the big crowds.
If you are following let us know. Safe travels and Thank You.
